Yes! IT was AGES ago!!! but...well....I'm posting it now...
The Garden of Gethsemane is located east of the Temple Mount, and east of the Kidron Valley, on the lower portion of the western slope of the Mount of Olives. After his final meal with his disciples, Jesus retired to this garden to pray (Matt 26:30-56; Mark 14:26-52; Luke 22:39-53; John 18:1-12). It was here that the disciples slept while Jesus prayed and it is here that he was captured and led away to be crucified. The church and garden are located at the eastern foot of the Mt. of Olives.
From the top of the Mount of Olives you can see the city of Jerusalem and the big wall of Jerusalem
View looking west, from the Garden of Gethsemane, at the double arched "Golden Gate." The small white structures in front of the gate are tombs that are part of a Moslem cemetery that runs the length of the eastern wall of the Old City .
From the top of the Mount of Olives I took these 3 pictures from left to right:
Next to the Wall of Jerusalem
Now I'm getting nearer the Wailing Wall
And the yellow one is the small paper I left with my prayers....my needs.....
Female section of the Wall
Male Section of the Wall
Vía Dolorosa....different stations
Stone of Unction opposite the entrance; the traditional place where Jesus body was prepared for burial, depicted by the mosaic behind.
To reach the Greek Orthodox chapel on the other side of the room, pass under an ornamental arch. The Greek altar is built over the spot which held the Cross.
Views of the interior and exterior of the traditional "Tomb of Jesus" inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher Holy Sepulcre's entrance:
Having reached the beginning of the line you will now enter the atrium, a small hall typically found in Jewish burial caves where families and friends of the deceased would gather. The Sepulchre's atrium is called the Chapel of the Angel. A podium holds a glass case containing a piece of the rolling stone used to block up the tomb. Greek Orthodox clergy had to enclose it in glass because pilgrims kept chopping off chunks to take home with them.
View looking down and west at the marble covering over the (traditional) burial bench of Jesus. According to tradition, Jesus’ head was placed where the vase is located.
On my way out.....filled with emotions....
Yes!!! I was there!!!!!!
